We Won’t Die In Vain
One day, my pyre will be lit;
I will submit to fate
I will bow down to our ultimate destiny
Fire will consume every part of me
I shall burn someday
But before I do
Before this body turns to ashes
I want to burn once
Before I am finally put off
Set me ablaze, for once
Before my voice is never heard again,
Let my heart rip
In innumerable bits
Mix with the air
As dust does
And then after I scatter across the realms
After I meet the skies
Let me burst into flames
Let all my pieces explode
All at once, it shall rain fire
The sky will be red then
Winds will howl in my voice
At all the wrong
That continues to happen
I shall proclaim my war
Will you hold my Shofar then?
And my conch?
Blow it when I feel weak?
To help me go on?
And then after all is done
And I’m burnt entirely
I shall descend
For the soil will call
Will you lay your skirt
On the ground?
To hold me one last time
When I fall?
I will gaze,
Till my eyes go moist
And when I’m too tired
I shall close my eyes
You’re half my soul,
As the poets say,
Sing me to sleep then,
Will you?
